Microneedling is a great introductory aesthetic Microneedling is a great introductory aesthetic treatment – it’s a simple, yet effective way to improve your skin tone and elasticity. Many of our patients find that they enjoy this treatment regularly to enhance their at home skincare routine. We use the SkinPen for microneedling because of its precision and rapid cycling at over 100 stamps/second. This specialized device contains tiny needles and is swept across the face in order to create tiny openings in the skin. These micro injuries encourage the body’s natural healing process.

What to Expect with Microneedling

SkinPen creates micro injuries that tell your body to rush collagen producing agents to the skin. When healed, this process reveals a more youthful, toned appearance. Overall, microneedling can reduce a wide variety of unwanted skin issues due to aging like:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Uneven skin tone and texture
  • Acne scarring
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Enlarged pores
  • Loss of elasticity
Microneedling is safe and effective for all skin types and tones. The versatility of the variable depth SkinPen allows us to use it on many areas of the body, like the face, neck, and décolletage.

We can further enhance the benefits of microneedling by using PRP (platelet rich plasma) in combination with the treatment. During your visit, we will draw some blood and run it through a centrifuge to separate the plasma. Your plasma is rich in growth and healing factors, which makes it a powerful regenerative tool. After your microneedling, we will apply the PRP to the skin, which is readily absorbed in the tiny holes left by the Skin Pen. The benefit of this combination is that you are utilizing your body’s own healing power, which might be preferable for some patients who prefer more natural treatments.

Microneedling with PRP is also a great solution for treating hair loss.

When microneedling and PRP therapy are combined, our team if medical aesthetics expers is essentially opening channels directly to your hair follicles so that the blood based growth factors can stimulate and heal your hair follicles, and most importantly, encourage new hair growth. Your body’s healing response to these “micro wounds” acts like a turbo charge for the PRP.

Another way to supercharge your microneedling session is to use Sculptra, a synthetic material that stimulates collagen production. This biocompatible formula is applied to the treatment area after microneedling to jump start the healing process. As your body produces its own collagen over the next several weeks and months, it replaces the Sculptra as your body slowly breaks it down. This yields long-lasting results, with increased volume and elasticity.
