Chemical Peel Benefits You Should Know About

Many people aren’t familiar with the wide range of benefits that chemical peels can offer. Peels can be tailored to your individual needs to give you the skin you’ve always dreamed of. At Landy HE, we offer a variety of chemical peels to suit your skin type and tackle unwanted issues. Let’s discuss some of the major chemical peel benefits so you can decide if one is right for you.

What Is A Chemical Peel?

First, it’s back to basics. What exactly is a chemical peel? Chemical peels are solutions applied to clean skin that contain powerful ingredients like acids, enzymes, and nourishing agents. These ingredients exfoliate and hydrate your skin. Depending on your skin condition, the solution might contain a stronger acid to treat at a deeper level.

We perform chemical peels in the office during a short, 30-minute session. On your clean skin, we apply the chemical solution to your skin and leave it on for a designated period of time. Finally, we neutralize it with water or saline and wash it off your skin. In a few days, the outer skin will begin to shed as dead skin cells are turned over. As a result, you’ll begin to see new, glowing skin underneath.

Chemical Peel Benefits By Type

Chemical peels are versatile, they tackle a wide range of unwanted skin issues. We may recommend a series of different peels over the course of several months to a year.

  • ZO® 3-Step Peel™ – a great entry-level peel featuring 6% retinol. This peel improves the appearance of hyperpigmentation like age spots as well as fine lines, wrinkles, and skin texture.
  • ZO ® Skin Ossential Stimulator Peel™ – Designed specifically for acne prone skin, this peel uses a blend of 10% Salicylic Acid, 10% Lactic Acid, and 10% of Citric Acid. These help to reduce redness and future breakouts, as well as improve skin tone and clarity. In addition, it smoothes fine lines and wrinkles.
  • ZO® Controlled Depth Peel™ –  also known as the “skin tightening” peel, this blend of trichloracetic acid (TCA) and multi-action agents penetrates deeper into the skin. While tightening and toning the skin, it also reduces hyperpigmentation, scarring, and fine lines/wrinkles as well as evening out texture.
  • PRX-T33 Chemical Peels – This revolutionary treatment from Italy isn’t technically a peel, but this powerful solution contains TCA and Kojic Acid to improve skin appearance and Hydrogen Peroxide to prevent peeling.

How Long Does It Take To Recover?

Depending on the depth of the peel, healing occurs typically within 3-10 days. Resist peeling at your skin and be sure to stay hydrated. Apply SPF if you plan to be outside.
