To Shave or Not to shave? Isn’t Really the Question!
The average woman will spend over 2 months of her life shaving unwanted body hair, and men don’t have it any better. The average man will spend up to 6 months shaving to maintain his smooth face.
Managing unwanted hair takes time and the hair keeps coming back! Plucking and waxing are common ways to manage unwanted body hair, but neither offer a permanent solution.
Shaving & Depilatories only give short-term results. They require messy and irritating lotions or creams as well as requiring continuous commitment. If you are a waxer, this method of removal is painful, messy and provides short-term results as well. Waxing also requires hair to be grown out. Electrolysis is painful and treatments are lengthy. It is also impractical for large areas and is quite pricey. However, laser hair removal will get to the root of the problem. It gives you effective, permanent hair reduction anywhere on your body.
There are many advantages to choosing laser hair removal: it offers quick and mess free treatments. It gives lasting results and does not require hair to be grown out. As a general rule, it is less expensive than the chore of shaving daily or any of the other above mentioned alternatives.
At Landy HE, we have The Vectus® Laser, it emits gentle pulses of energy that pass through the skin and into the hair follicle. Then the follicle absorbs the energy and is destroyed; unable to produce hair again.
Since our hair grows in cycles multiple treatments are necessary for desired results.
The phases of growth for hair are as follows:
- Anagen Phase: This is the active phase of hair growth and lasts for several months. It is the best phase for Laser Hair Removal.
- Catagen Phase: During this brief phase, the hair bulb regresses and begins to shrink.
- Telogen Phase: This is the resting phase of hair growth. It lasts a few months and then the hair is released. Once completed, the Anagen phase begins again.
- The treatment area should be clean shaven prior to the procedure.
- The provider will guide the laser handpiece over the area being treated.
- The handpiece will emit beams of laser energy which is absorbed by the hair follicles and converted to heat.
- This heat disables the hair follicle from future growth.
The Vectus hair removal system at Landy Esthetics uses a Skintel® Melanin Reader™. This is an advanced technology that measures the skins’ melanin index at each treatment. This index is used to determine the ideal settings for each individual patient and increases the safety and results for each laser hair removal treatment.
During your treatment, as the provider guides the laser handpiece over the treatment area, you will feel cooling on the skin. This is called contact cooling and will maximize your comfort during the treatment, making it an extremely tolerable experience.
